DAY 04: Your Favorite Book...

Well, I didn't keep up with the idea of doing one post per day. I'm going to attempt to catch up! I'm quite a reader, so this was a challenge for me, as well. Here are the possibilities:

These 5 books are at the top of my all-time favorite reads, but I would probably have to say that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix & Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are the favorites. I honestly can't pick one over the other, so I'm just going to have two favorites for this one! I think J.K. Rowling is a genius and I really love to read the whole series. No book in the series is anything short of amazing.

These particular two are my favorite because this is where the plot really starts to thicken. I love Order of the Phoenix for the fact that good people start to form a secret union to protect the world that they love and appreciate, in lieu of foreboding circumstances. Harry also has to deal with the loss of Sirius Black, the one person in his life that could be considered a relative, something Harry never had before meeting Sirius and something that Harry only got to bask in for a short amount of time. It's where you really start to see the younger characters develop into adults and realize the bigger issues that come into play to make the world work harmoniously. Learning that you are one minuscule part of this vast world and there are often hardships and battles to protect a certain belief, something that I clearly remember realizing as I grew older.

The Half-Blood Prince is also a favorite because you finally learn vital information about who Voldemort is and what events occurred in his past to make him the vengeful enemy that he has become. Who doesn't love to find out the nitty gritty details to any tale, fiction or non-fiction? Harry also falters in his concrete belief system of doing the right thing at all times, when he realizes that taking shortcuts does not always have a great outcome. And, the much-loved Dumbledore comes to the end of his life in a scene that can only be described as emotional and surreal to the reader.

The movies to all of the Harry Potter books have been great, as well. I certainly have my quips with the movie adaptations in relation to the books, but all in all, the movies have done a fine job. Can't wait for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie in November!
