DAY 25: Your Day, in Great Detail...

Wednesday, 7/20/11 - I woke up at 7:15am this morning, a little earlier than usual cause I knew my monthly Board of Director's meeting was at 8:30am and I would have to get to work early to make a phone call to a performer (explain that in a second), park my car, and walk to the location of the meeting, while managing to not be late to the meeting. I jumped in the shower and next played the usual morning game of "What to Wear Today?". I chose a new shirt that had been given to me by someone; a pink eyelet button down shirt, one that I worried was an "old lady" type shirt for the rest of the day! Paired the shirt with some black slacks, Vera Wang sandals and pink crystal earrings from Charming Charlies (how I fell in love with that place the one & only time I've been there! Mental Note: Go back soon!) and was on my way. Got to my office around 7:50am and was surprised that there were no parking spots left on my floor of the parking deck, considering how early I got to work. Ran to the office and made the phone call to the performer. Today was the start of the Summer Afternoons Music Series that I coordinate for work, where performers come to perform live music during the lunch hour on Wednesdays & Fridays. On the morning of their performance, I have to call the performers to let them know that the weather looks good or not and confirming if the performance is taking place. Grabbed a notepad and headed to the meeting, which was held at the New Brunswick United Methodist Church since members of the Board volunteer to hold the meeting at their companies or organizations each month. As always, the meeting was very interesting and I found out a lot of information about downtown New Brunswick that I hadn't heard yet and also experienced the Board members hearing about information that they hadn't heard yet, all while handwriting the meeting minutes at hyperspeed. Drove back to the office with my boss, and we spent the short time in the car discussing the three dings in her windshield and I gave her some advice on the issue since I had already been through the process of repairing windshield dings. When we got back to the office, I quickly checked my e-mails (work & personal) and had to leave soon after to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the New Brunswick Wellness Plaza which is a project that started many months prior. I gladly baked in the hot sun (hoping that I was getting more tan) as speakers thanked various city and county entities for the work on the project and then I had to walk to Kilmer Square Park and greet the performers (something that I highly dislike doing and countdown the number of performances left until the end of the program). I greeted the band, waited for them to set up, and then did a sound check. Went back to my office and wrote some long work e-mails that needed to be done and other miscellaneous work. Went back to the performers at 2pm to make sure everything was okay with the performance and then bidded them farewell. Back at the office, I got (some) work done and then attended my first New Brunswick City Council meeting after work hours. It was not mandatory for me to go, but I wanted to see what they were like, so I decided to tag along with my boss and attend one. It turned out to be quite an experience and I learned how tedious certain legislative processes can be on the city level, and how even more tedious people can be about the matters in their cities. Some people wanted to make issues out of nothing and sat through many resident complaints while perched on a hard wooden bench. The meeting lasted over 1.5 hours and as soon as it was done, I headed straight to Bobby's house. En route, I stopped for gas and took notice of the really sweet older man that was the gas attendant. I spent much of the car ride lost in thought about one thing in particular (...or two...or three...okay...maybe four), wondering what the outcome would be, and taking notice of strange "signs" along the way. I had to go to Bobby's to help Jen make chocolates to be placed on the top of cupcakes that were part of an order for her work colleague tomorrow. While working on the cupcakes, we had our usual debriefing of the events that had taken place during the small amount of time that we had been separated, which is always enjoyable! We finished a lot earlier than I thought we would and ended up watching TV with Bobby. Jen was flipping through the channels and found How I Met Your Mother on (one of my favorite shows). It wasn't just any HIMYM episode, but it was one of my favorites from Season 1, entitled "Drumroll, Please" where Ted goes to a friend's wedding and meets a mystery woman named Victoria. They agree to not give out their last names, phone numbers, or any other personal information to one another and that they'll just have one fabulous night together and then go on their separate ways. They do fun and sometimes silly things throughout the reception hall, well after the wedding guests leave and end up having one of those rare nights where you completely click with someone and feel more alive than you ever have. The episode ultimately ends in Ted trying to find her the next day cause she was that unforgettable to him...

Another episode of HIMYM immediately followed, and it's about Ted & Victoria being together cause Ted does find her, Marshall & Lily celebrating their 9th anniversary at home and Lily freaks out that they've lost their magic and are now a couple that has no more "firsts" to experience together, and Robin acts as Barney's wing man where they go to a cigar bar, play laser tag, and play wing man antics at their normal hangout bar. I think it's funny that I happened to see both of these episodes tonight, considering that "Drumroll, Please" is one of my all-time favorite HIMYM episodes, and I just discussed the cigar bar scene from "Zip, Zip, Zip" with someone at a really nice dinner the other night. I always take coincidences like that as being a sign for me to take notice of. This time, I'm not sure what kind of sign is being sent my way but hopefully I will in the near future. :) It is now nearing midnight and I will be going to sleep shortly. THAT is my day, in great detail. Good night...
